Graskop Gorge Lift

Lift & Forest

Graskop Gorge Lift is centrally located on Mpumalanga's Panorama Route just outside Graskop. There is something for the entire family to enjoy at Graskop Gorge Lift.

The viewing lift takes visitors 51 metres down the face of the Graskop Gorge, into the indigenous forest below, where wooden walkways and suspension bridges make up a 600-metre circular trail. In the forest, interactive exhibits and interpretation boards enable visitors to explore the diverse life that thrives under the dense canopy of trees, and they can enjoy the waterfall and meandering stream, too.

Big Swing

The Big Swing, one of the world’s highest cable gorge swings, launches off the top of the waterfall. The experience is very different to a bungee jump, as participants freefall for 70 metres before the jump rope pulls them into a high-speed arch and they swing from one side of the gorge to the other. When falling, they reach a speed of 140km/h in three seconds.

Zipline

Visitors who still want to get their hearts racing, but think the Big Swing too extreme for them, can choose to fly across the gorge on a high-wire zipline. The course starts from the top of a five-metre tower with 360-degree views. Participants ride a 120-metre-long zipline to the northern side of the gorge, before walking a short distance along a scenic platform and zipping back along a second zipline of equal length.

Suspension Bridge, Shops & Restaurants

The spectacular 52-metre-long suspension bridge, which spans the northern and southern sides of the Graskop Gorge, enables visitors to enjoy spectacular views while standing 70 metres above the ground. There are also two restaurants on-site, the Lift Café and Swing Café. While the Lift Café is a spacious, inviting restaurant and bar, with the most spectacular views, the Swing Café is a laid-back chill zone offering flame-grilled chicken, a choice of sides and an array of beverages. The Swing Café has a choice of seating, from a gorge-edge counter to traditional tables and chairs and inviting couches.

For those who enjoy their retail therapy, there are also a variety of shops and a community craft centre to enjoy.

Skyway Trails

Experience the freedom of gliding over one of the last remaining natural forested valleys along the Sabie River adjacent to the Kruger National Park. The aerial cable trail takes you down into the valley basin, stopping along the way on a number of elevated platforms to admire the natural vegetation, birdlife and the views of the forest floor below. The cable trail gives you a unique perspective of the environment. And as you descend through some of the most spectacular scenery in this region and with the sound of running water always in the background it is sure to be an experience you will never forget.

The Kruger National Park

Lying in the heart of the Lowveld is a wildlife sanctuary like no other, its atmosphere so unique that it allows those who enter its vastness to immerse themselves in the unpredictability and endless wilderness that is the true quality of Africa.

The largest game reserve in South Africa, the Kruger National Park is larger than Israel. Nearly 2 million hectares of land that stretch for 352 kilometres (20 000 square kilometres) from north to south along the Mozambique border is given over to an almost indescribable wildlife experience. Certainly it ranks with the best in Africa and is the flagship of the country’s national parks.

Boasting an exceptional diversity of game, it is home to more different species of wildlife than any other natural sanctuary in Africa. Visitors can set out in search of the Big Five in their own cars or on guided game drives.

Revel in a full or half day adventure safari in Kruger National Park, the game reserve that has the greatest diversity of wildlife in Africa. Kruger National Park is well-known for its boundless opportunities to spot the famous African Big Five – Elephant, Leopard, Buffalo, Rhino and of course Lion. Misty Mountain is only 80km's from the Phabeni Gate.
