Step back in time and explore the historic town of Pilgrim’s Rest. Experience the splendour of God’s Window, the Pinnacle, Blyde River Canyon and Bourke’s Luck Potholes. And, of course, you are already on the Long Tom Pass – take a slow drive through this magnificent mountain pass and soak up the scenery.
The Kruger National Park, one of South Africa’s greatest natural treasures, is only 77 kilometres (Phabeni Gate) from Misty Mountain. An easy day trip, the Kruger National Park boasts the Big 5, many other animal and bird species, and a wonderful environment and facilities to experience the bushveld.
The capital of Mpumalanga, Nelspruit/Mbombela, is only 65 kilometres from Misty Mountain. Nelspruit/Mbombela is one of the fastest growing metropolitan areas in South Africa and offers many modern shopping and entertainment facilities. A special attraction is the Lowveld National Botanical Garden. A must see
is the 40 000-seater Mbombela Stadium, built for the 2010 Soccer World Cup, with its clearly distinguishable quirky giraffe buttresses and zebra-print seating.
Nearby White River is home to Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport (70 kilometres from Misty Mountain) and offers some unique country shopping experiences such as Casterbridge Farm and Bagdad Centre.
